Certified Nursing Assistant Program
Genesee Valley BOCES provides a detailed Certified Nursing Assistant training program that prepares students to be responsible for providing safe patient care under the supervision of a nurse. Through the program, a student learns to provide baths, distribute and collect trays, feed patients, escort and transfer patients, provide oral care, turn and position patients, and many other necessary functions of daily living.
This training provides a student with the flexibility to be ready to work in a hospital or a long-term care facility. It may also be used as a preliminary step in the pathway to other health care careers and certainly would assist an interested adult in determining if a health care career fits their lifestyle and personal talents. The program is no less than a 150-hour program, approved by the New York State Education Department, and designed to prepare graduates for immediate employment following successful mastery of the post-program certification testing.
Interested applicants should be aware that the New York State Department of Health requires a criminal background check and fingerprinting prior to employment and defines the specific applicant's criminal history that will prevent employment in NYS Skilled Nursing Facility sites.
CNA Program locations include Batavia and Mount Morris. Call (585) 344-7788 for information on upcoming CNA classes.
