Health Dimensions
Health Dimensions students engage in a challenging hands-on approach in the health field. Students experience and provide the "human side" of client care at local healthcare facilities. This two-year program teaches students all the skills necessary to become a nurse aide. Successful completion of the course allows students to test through NYS to obtain their Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA). This certification gives students the opportunity to work at nursing homes across New York state. This career is in high demand across NYS and the entire country! Students prepare for this exam by meeting the minimum number of required hours and minimum proficiency as required by the Health Dimensions Instructor. Students are required to pay a fee to take the certification exam.
Using the skills learned in the classroom, students work with residents at area nursing homes to satisfy clinical hours as set by NYS. This is a rewarding experience for both the residents and students!
The Health Dimensions Program prepares students for entry into the healthcare field by teaching the fundamentals of safe practices such as bloodborne pathogens, infection control practices, fire safety, and HIPAA. Students have the opportunity to obtain additional certifications such as CPR/First aid and Narcan training.
ELA, science, and career and financial management credit are available to students through the Health Dimensions Program. Ask your counselor if you qualify for this credit.
