The 2024-2025 Genesee Valley BOCES ICE Competition celebrated academic excellence, creativity, and collaboration among students from across the region. Held annually, the event highlights student achievements in Literature, Drama, and Creative Writing, with teams vying for the prestigious ICE Cup. This year, Livonia Central School District emerged as the ICE Cup winner, showcasing exceptional performance across all categories. Individual and team achievements included:
Literature:
o 1st Place: McKenna C., Livonia
o 2nd Place: Julianna S., Caledonia-Mumford
o 3rd Place: Delaney B., Avon
Drama:
o 1st Place: Leah W., Livonia
o 2nd Place: Elena K., Geneseo
o 3rd Place: Kaedin A., Geneseo
Creative Writing:
o 1st Place: Emma D., Avon
o 2nd Place: Rebekah H., Livonia
o 3rd Place: Emma B., Caledonia-Mumford
In the team category, Team Blue from Livonia secured 1st place, followed by The Scarlett Letterhead from Avon in 2nd place.
Julie Judge, Enrichment Specialist at Genesee Valley BOCES and the event coordinator, praised the participants, saying, “The ICE Competition highlights the immense creativity, dedication, and academic talents of our students. It’s inspiring to see their hard work come to life and to witness the camaraderie among schools in our region.” This is a unique opportunity for students to delve deeper in an academic field in which they are gifted and also gain valued feedback from college professors.
The ICE event brings together students from Livonia, Wayland-Cohocton, Avon, Geneseo, Caledonia-Mumford, and Pavilion to foster friendly competition and intellectual growth. Genesee Valley BOCES is proud to support these talented students and encourage their future success.
