Genesee Valley BOCES has been awarded the 2025 Utica National Insurance Group’s School Safety Excellence Award at the Titanium with Honors level. This distinction recognizes the district’s comprehensive efforts to ensure the safety and well-being of students, staff, and visitors.
The award was presented during Utica National’s 43rd annual school safety seminar, one of six hosted throughout New York State. Genesee Valley BOCES was one of at least 160 school districts and BOCES recognized for demonstrating a strong commitment to school safety practices.
In recognition of this achievement, Genesee Valley BOCES received a certificate and a $500 award to support its ongoing safety initiatives.
Utica National’s School Safety Excellence Award Program evaluates participating districts based on a set of criteria, including bullying prevention, playground safety, and transportation practices. Schools are assessed through detailed, quantifiable surveys, and eligible for recognition at the Gold, Platinum, or Titanium levels. The Titanium with Honors distinction represents the highest level of achievement.
For more than five decades, Utica National has supported school districts across New York State in identifying safety risks and enhancing protective measures. The program aims to encourage and reward proactive planning, implementation, and continuous improvement in school safety practices.
