On September 26th, Chad Heeb, Vice President and COO of New York Chips and New York Spuds, visited the GV BOCES Early College High School at the Byron-Bergen campus. Chad shared his inspiring journey, from his rural upbringing in New York to becoming a key figure in the potato chip industry. He emphasized the importance of gaining diverse experiences, reflecting on personal strengths, and setting clear goals to align with career paths.
During his talk, students engaged with Chad’s insights on what employers seek in today’s workforce and the innovation behind developing new chip flavors. He even brought samples for the students to try, which were a hit!
Chad extended an invitation to the students to tour his Wyoming County facility, sparking excitement among the group. He also generously offered to mentor students in the program, further strengthening his support of BOCES and its mission.

Today at Dansville, students participated in our 2nd annual Fire Safety Presentation with the Dansville Fire Department. They explored fire safety protocols and practiced using a 911 call simulator. After the presentation, students got a hands-on experience with the fire truck and ambulance, asking great questions about the equipment and emergency procedures. We extend a big thank you to the Dansville Fire Department for making this interactive learning experience possible!"

Yesterday’s 5th annual GLOW With Your Hands event was a huge success, with over 1,200 high school and junior high students diving into exciting careers in agriculture, manufacturing, and skilled trades! More than 70 companies were on hand, and even more schools joined in this year. Genesee Valley BOCES students took center stage—whether they were exploring career options or proudly demonstrating the skills they’ve mastered in class, they were fully immersed in the action!
