The School Improvement Team (SIT) at Genesee Valley BOCES aims to provide professional learning (PL) and instructional training that aligns with New York State standards and supports local districts with continuous school improvement initiatives. The service consists of activities designed to strengthen instruction, raise standards, improve curriculum and assessment practices, and build capacity at local levels. The department recognizes the unique needs of districts and can also work collaboratively to support emerging educational needs relevant to individual districts. The SIT supports districts with improvement aligned with science, and our service encompasses a range of areas including short- and long-range planning, curriculum development, enhancing instructional practices, assessment creation, and analysis of data. The SIT provides large-scale PL opportunities and customized individual district-embedded PL across the region. Additionally, the service provides BOCES aid to districts for costs related to workshops, consultants, facility use, materials, lodging/transportation, registration, and substitute costs/teacher stipends for all SI curriculum/PL expenses that meet COSER guidelines.
